Electronic Odometer with LCD Driver

This custom ASIC is a fully electronic odometer for automotive and electric vehicle applications.  It contains a programmable prescaler and two decade counters for “Season” and “Trip” mileage.  Data is stored in a nonvolatile memory (EEPROM) and retained if power is lost.  A seven-digit LCD driver is included.

Engine Monitor & Warning Light Controller

This device monitors up to four engine parameters (temperature, voltage, pressure, etc.) and activates the corresponding warning light if the parameter is out of range. The sensor inputs may be absolute or ratiometric. They are digitally filtered and may include hysteresis to eliminate flickering. This custom ASIC is intended for automotive instrument clusters.

Digital Pulse Width Modulator (PWM)

The CSS68HC68W1 IC modulates an input clock to provide a variable frequency and variable duty-cycle output signal. Three 8-bit registers are accessed via a three-wire interface, compatible with Motorola’s SPI bus. They control pulse width, frequency and configuration. This part is a direct replacement for Intersil’s CDP68HC68W1 IC. This device is an “off-the-shelf” standard product available for purchase.
